Are you thinking like me and wonder why you don't see or hear about rock rough from Georgia. I was surprised to see this lace agate for sale and how a place called Taylor's Ridge and James H (Sloppy) Floyd State Park is covered with rock scattered everywhere. It's called "crazy lace" agate, "angel lace" agate, and even "Summerville Agate". It's considered a gemstone and has sweet tight fortification lines. You will also find some quartz and marble around the area as there is an old marble mine in the park. The hear that the trail leading to the mine from the south entrance parking area is scattered with lots of nice agate too with many of the rocks having cavities with druzy quartz crystal growing inside. But they say the best place to collect is in the rock quarry on highway 27, just north of the entrance to Sloppy Floyd State park, where there are huge pieces of agate that are too heavy to even move. This area is privately owned, but the owner allows rock collection at the site. As always, I recommend you live by the rockhound code and get his permission though. His office is located on the property. I plan on stopping by the area someday to see it for myself. -WET pic.- 3"x 2.5"/1.8 oz./6mm thk) no fractures
