Cumberlandite

Guess what the State Rock is for Rhode Island>>>you're correct if you said Cumberlandite. Did you know it is only found on a four-acre lot in Blackstone Valley, Cumberland. Did you get that.....Blackstone Valley. Very cool indeed. There are traces of Cumberlandite in the area's watershed but that's it. There is enough iron in it to make it a bit magnetic. It also has titanium and was used in the 18th and 19th century in making many different types of farm tools. During the Revolutionary War, colonist tried making a cannon from it, but it cracked and was useless. -WET pic. -(14.4 oz.) chunk
