I almost forgot that my own State of Michigan is quite the hotbed for someone who loves to pick up awesome colored quartz, petoskey's and other fossil types as a hobbie. Before I became a full fledged hound I collected stones for their color and still have a pile from those days. I did heard 'em all up and put 'em in the back where my other Michigan garden size rock are kept. All this found over the years in the River Rock of Michigan. That's what they call it because it's all tumbed smooth (water worn) rock like they have been in water. But they actually got worn from being moved by glaciers. It was raining and I walked by one of the small pieces of quartz I picked up for color sometime in the past. It was nice looking being wet and I just stopped and collected it again so to speak. That just tells you how it popped in my eye. Here's a slab from it. -WET pic.- (3"x 2.5"/2.4 oz./6mm thk) no fractures
