Also know as Mitchellite after the late Bill Mitchell. He and Shirts Quant, two central Oregon rock hunting legends, found this agate. With fantastic yellows, blues, wild patterns, this rock from Mitchell, Oregon is really a breath taker. With the deposit nearly empty, especially anything of good quality, Jumping Jeep is becoming more and more rare. Here’s the story of the agate that I found . . . “Another amazing discovery is the JUMPIN JEEP MOSS AGATE found near Mitchell Oregon, way up on the side of a mountain. They were getting some sweet agate out and even had a huge boulder of solid agate with all the bells and whistles. It was so big they could not budge the thing. They brought an old willy's jeep up to the area and hooked up to it with the winch and cable and as it came loose it rolled downhill and took the jeep with it. Seems they did not anchor the jeep to a tree or anything thinking the jeep was heavy enough to hold it. They said that they just stood there in shock and awe as the rock and jeep went jumping and bouncing down the slope tied together. People came from all over to see the mangled wreck. This is a monster size chunk of what is rarely seen on the market because not much was ever collected. This is an awesome chunk of rare agate, period. -WET pic.-(10 lbs. 8 oz. ) half nodule no fractures .. excellent cutter
