This might be the rarest agate that Utah has ever produced! The "digs" were started in the 1930's by a gentleman from Salina, Utah. In the 1960's before giving the mine up, he gave it one last shot...he hired a bulldozer to make some serious cuts into what he thought would be the place the agate seams would be. He did collect around a half ton for his endeavors, and that was the end of it until a fellow can along later on and tried again bringing in some equipment but to no avail....Call it luck, karma or stumbeldy whatzit, that fellows son never forgot about it and sometime around 2005 he and his wife lucked into a pocket of about 500 lbs. of the material....I was happy to score some of that material because it is has all but disappeared into collections now, including mine for your luck!. -WET pic-(9 oz.) end cut no fractures...great cutter
