There are three flame agate types in Nova Scotia that all come from different locations. They are Cherry Flame, Red Flame and the most coveted Golden Flame Agate. In the Minas Channel at the Cape Split Peninsula there was a huge rock slide which is called the Golden Fire Agate Slide. It really caused havoc to anyone trying to pass along the bank with all its large rock scattered from the slide. It is said to be a bizarre place with no sunlight getting to the area all winter long. The agate is under the sandy beach rock and after the right storm with certain winds it uncovers and breaks out seams of agate from the host rock. I never see any new stuff from the area. It's all under sand for the most part until uncovered by a storm. And then there are no hounds around to collect it before it covers back up. Here's a sweet little chunk. -WET pic.-(5.8 oz.)end cut no fractures
