Purple Bertrandite, Opal Fluorite, Purple Passion, Purple Opal, Beryllium Ore are other names for this popular stone that is only found at one place in the world, Utah. It started when the government started mining for Beryllium to use on the nose cones of missiles to keep heat from building up at high speeds. The Bertrandite was the by product rock and was nothing but the tailings from mining the Beryllium. They once let people in to collect but have stopped all access. You guessed it.....becoming harder and harder to find good grade and let me tell you there are a ton of junk out there bouncing around from a new vein they collect from now. -WET pic.-( 5.8 oz.)  solid to cut
